The Submission Wrestling class is made up of a combination of various grappling arts including;
- Brazilian Jiujitsu
- Sambo
- Olympic style wrestling
Students learn techniques from standing and on the ground. The aim is to take your opponent down, control them and make them ‘tap out’ (submit) by applying a submission hold.
Submission wrestling is very similar to Brazilian jiu-jitsu in that the aim is to control and submit your opponent. The difference being that you only wear shorts and t-shirt or rash guard in Sub wrestling whereas the jiu-jitsu student wears a Gi (kimono).
Submission Wrestling also allows the use of submissions such as leg locks, calf and bicep crushes that are illegal or limited in BJJ.
The nature of this sport makes it also very useful for those that have a security based job where the need to control and restrain people is necessary skill.
